Favorite times of my weekly routine
🧘♀️ 2-minute of Shavasana after an hour-long yoga session
Yes, it is very specific, but let me tell you.
Every Thursday, I have a yoga class in my local studio by the best yoga instructor that I met so far. It is an hour-long warm vinyasa flow, so it is quite active and tiring. This is when every time I realize what my body is capable of, and I am amazed by it. After this session, we always have a 2-minute of Shavasana pose. This is by far my favorite time of the week. Not the yoga session itself, though I also really love it, but lying down on the yoga mat after the session for a few minutes is really when I feel at peace.✨
🍽️ Cooking something fancy for dinner
I cook almost every day. Not only because I love cooking, but also it is the only way to have healthy food at an affordable price, both of which we care about.
A few times a week, I try to cook something fancy. Although I really enjoy seeing Güven’s satisfaction with the food during the dinner, what I enjoy the most is the process of creating something delicious and beautiful on my own. 👩🍳
Our recent favorite dishes are aubergine curry 🍛, coconut rice 🥥🍚, black-eyed pea salad 🥗, and lahmacun (yes, I can cook the most well-known Turkish dish! 🇹🇷)
🚶♀️ 30-minute afternoon walk by myself
I didn’t know that this would be something I liked so much as I have started my afternoon walks as per my goal to make 2024 my most active year. But it turned out that instead of spending the whole afternoon on my couch 🛋️; going outside, taking fresh air 🌳, and listening to one of my favorite podcasts 🎧 while walking feels really good.
Sometimes, ending my walk with a beer 🍺 in a local pub (not healthy, I know😊) carries this experience to another level. Drinking my IPA while listening to my podcast or audiobook or just looking at the sky, ahh, sometimes makes me think: What did I do to deserve this beautiful life? 🌅
🌄 Morning walk with Güven on weekends
I don’t think there is a better way to connect with your partner other than having a long walk together. Silent steps or heated discussions, holding hands 👫 or walking alone knowing that your partner is following you, are all just amazing. ❤️
👩💻 Just after an intellectually stimulating meeting with smart people
The best part of being an academic is being able to choose whom you work with on what projects, and I am taking full advantage of this opportunity. Working on what I really care about with people I really enjoy working with is another level in my professional life. That’s why, after most of my meetings in a week, I feel energized ⚡, although the meeting itself is tiring.
