Summer 2024 has ended, and sadly, I couldn’t visit Turkey, my home country, this summer. 🌞🇹🇷 As I have missed Turkey so much, I’d like to share my favorite travel destinations in Turkey. Who knows, maybe next summer, we can meet at one of these destinations! ✈️❤️
Göbekli Tepe, Şanlıurfa
“Göbeklitepe is an archaeological site located near Şanlıurfa in southeastern Türkiye. It dates back to around 9600 BCE, making it over 11,000 years old, and is considered one of the oldest known temples in the world. Göbeklitepe is significant because it predates the advent of agriculture and settled life, suggesting that complex religious and communal practices may have played a crucial role in the development of early human societies. Its discovery has challenged previous understandings of the origins of civilization.”
Knidos Ancient City, Muğla
“Knidos is an ancient city located on the Datça Peninsula in southwestern Turkey, where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea. Founded around the 4th century BCE, Knidos was a prominent center of trade, culture, and science in ancient times, particularly during the Hellenistic period.”
Bozcaada, Çanakkale
“Bozcaada is a small island in the Aegean Sea, located off the western coast of Turkey. It is the third largest Turkish island and is part of the Çanakkale province. Known for its picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and rich history.”
Cunda, Balıkesir

Ephesus Ancient City, İzmir
“Ephesus is an ancient city located near the modern town of Selçuk in the İzmir province of western Turkey. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most well-preserved and significant archaeological sites of the classical Greek and Roman eras. Founded in the 10th century BCE by Greek colonists, Ephesus became a major center of trade and culture, particularly during the Roman period.”
Delikli Koy, İzmir
“Delikli Koy is a beautiful and secluded beach located on the Çeşme Peninsula in western Turkey, near the popular tourist destination of Alaçatı. The name "Delikli Koy" translates to "Pierced Bay" in English, which refers to the unique rock formations found in the area.”
Mount Nemrut, Adıyaman
“Mount Nemrut, located in the Adıyaman province of southeastern Turkey, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its monumental statues and ancient tomb sanctuary. The site dates back to the 1st century BCE and was constructed by King Antiochus I of Commagene as a burial site for himself.”
Kekova, Antalya
“Kekova is a small, picturesque region located in the Mediterranean Sea near the town of Demre in the Antalya province of southwestern Turkey. The area is famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, stunning natural scenery, and rich historical heritage. Kekova includes the island of Kekova and several small coastal villages, including Kaleköy (ancient Simena) and Üçağız.”
Orhaniye, Muğla
