This week, I turned 34, though I still often feel like I am 24. But definitely, something is different now: the definition of a perfect weekend.
So, as a newbie 34-year-old, I want to share simple yet profound things that make my weekend perfect.
Waking up without any rush.
In my 20s, I almost never woke up without a rush, as I spent weekend mornings working, especially during my PhD. Now, I cherish every morning that I don’t need to wake up with a rush, and sometimes celebrate this by staying in bed and reading a book before doing anything else.
Exercising with my partner.
I love exercising, and I try to plan my days around my exercise routine as much as possible. But exercising on weekends is special because I can exercise with my partner: running, weight training, hiking… Exercising is one of the things I enjoy the most with my partner. #couplegoals
There is something special about taking care of yourself together with a loved one, working towards a long, happy, healthy life together.
Having a healthy breakfast
I often have a healthy breakfast, but on weekends, I try to be a bit more creative while preparing it.
Creating the life that I want.
I know, I know. This is way too general. But it can look like doing a little bit of DIY to improve the living environment, gardening, having long conversations about our investment strategies and taking action, planning for a vacation, purchasing some event tickets, or even simply cleaning the home. :)
Spending just a couple of hours on things that I will benefit from in the future — the things that make Future Sidika say, “Thank you!”
Long dinner & long conversation with my partner
Feeling a little bit physically tired makes every meal special. I don’t know why. Instead of spending all day on the couch, when my day includes physical movement, I also become more creative and thoughtful during dinner.
“Finding meaning from multiple parts of my life means that when a setback comes in one aspect, it doesn’t sting as much.”
Bonus: Spending time with friends.
Of course, this doesn’t happen every weekend, but when it does, I feel energized. I started to enjoy time with friends more, especially after learning to listen more and talk less.
I hope this post inspires you to think about how a perfect weekend looks like for you and to spend more time on things that make you a better version of yourself.
Cheers,
Sidika
