There are a few things about humanity that truly disappoint me, and unfortunately, these things are becoming more prevalent as we spend more time on social media.
1ļøā£ The Loudest Voices Are Often the Least Informed šļøā
Have you ever noticed how, on social media (or even in meetings), the person who knows the least often speaks the loudest? Itās a huge problem. There are people whose entire existence revolves around scrolling social media and making uninformed, often nonsense commentsāwithout having any knowledge or real experience.
Meanwhile, those who actually know what theyāre talking about tend to stay silent. This is discouraging, especially for content creators who share meaningful insights only to be drowned out by noise. This also happens in meetingsāpeople with no real expertise dominate conversations, while those with genuine knowledge hesitate to speak up. Itās frustrating, and it leads to misinformation spreading like wildfire. š„
2ļøā£ Jumping to Unfair Conclusions šš¤Æ
Why do people assume that anyone successful must have done something shady to get there?
I recently shared a podcast featuring MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Steven Bartlett, and someone messaged me saying, āHe must be doing something illegal to have so many businesses.ā Really? If you actually listen to Jimmy speak, youāll quickly realize that this guy has been grinding for 15 yearsāeven now, as a billionaire, he works 20 hours a day creating content and running his businesses, and his attention to detail is just mind-blowing.
Yet, people who spend their entire lives on social media, doing nothing, feel entitled to judge his success. Is that fair?
If youāre not in the arena, you donāt get to judge.
You can share your opinions, give feedback, but dismissing someoneās effort without understanding their journey? Thatās just lazy thinking. š¤¦āāļø
3ļøā£ The Lack of Comprehension & Open-Mindedness š¤·āāļøš
This one really gets me. People donāt understand what they read or hear, yet they confidently comment and argue.
This is particularly true in Turkey, where the average number of books read per person is shockingly low. If people arenāt reading books, how can they be expected to understand nuanced posts on social media in just 30ā60 seconds? This is why I hate when my posts go viralābecause many of the comments make nonsense.
Most people donāt actually try to understandāthey just look for evidence to justify what they already believe. Instead of expanding their thinking, they cling to their existing views.
Me? When I see something thought-provoking, I ask myself:
ā
How can I incorporate this into my life?
ā
How can I understand this idea better?
Thatās the mindset shift we need.
I donāt think these frustrations are limited to social media, but social media has amplified them since so much of our interaction is now online.
I believe itās important to talk about these issues.
What do you think? Have you experienced these frustrations, too?
Cheers,
Sidika
Thanks to your story, I listened to the DOAC podcast and absolutely loved it. MrBeast shows us how passion can help us turn things around.
